Organic Lawn Care

There are so many things you can do to bypass nasty harmful chemical use in your yard.
Here are a various tried and true methods I have used over the years to save the environment and protect our kids and pets.
  1. Use Corn Gluten instead of weed killer fertilizer.
  2. Spread a thin (1 inch) layer of compost (filtered/strained if homemade) onto your lawn. This will keep your lawn nourished without the use of chemical fertilizers.
  3. Catch your own rain water for drip line plants: Get a big water barrel, catch water run-off from your roof or from the sky, and run a hose drip line to your plants. Or bail the water out and pour on thirsty trees or shrubs.
  4. Make your own compost tea: Soak a gallon of compost in water. Filter the compost in a cheesecloth bag for a day. Then pull it out and use the water(tea) on your plants and shrubs. I pour just enough on each plant to runoff.
  5. More to come.
